Tell me why - Ravenclaw

[info]aryana_filker posted today her Gryffindor version of "Tell me why", which is great.

I decided there had to be a Ravenclaw version, too )

One more of these...

Yay for Filkcontinental! Hubby and I are back, not even too tired (though when I decided this afternoon that a bit of reading was required I caught myself nodding off, and I think I actually slept for an hour or so.

It was a wonderful con, great GOHs, wonderful sets and circles.

Oh, and to the sisterhood of the hanged lemming: I just watched the video of our set. We really weren't too bad! :)))

More later! Will have a quiet evening with hubby now.

Filk!

Some people told me at FilkCon that they liked my Lullaby (the one I was singing in the Dead Trousers Circle) very much. So I thought I'd post the lyrics here:

The original: Kleiner Stern )

Lea Version: Kleiner Schatz )

Finger weg!

Also, jetzt hackt's.

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be careful with your data!

Thanks to [info]madfilkentist for pointing out this article! If anyone of you ever shared personal data in a flocked post, thinking they would be safe, please reconsider!

Don't share data via LJ!

I don't feel in danger myself because I never use the flocked posts for anything that's worse than perhaps embarrassing, but I felt that anyone should be aware about who is administrating this site now.

Big brother is watchin us?

Many of my friends have already posted an entry about the newest LJ rules.

Thanks to [info]the_magician for posting this link, it's quite helpful:
http://catrinella.livejournal.com/151812.html

Due to the information there I have decided to take down "slash" from my interests list - just to be safe. I don't think that anything else is offensive to US law or hysterical LJ admins, so I'm going to take the risk that being a roleplayer or a filker might offend them. If so, I wouldn't stay on this journal anyway.

Looking for a car

DAMN!!!!

Today, A had an accident on his way to work. He was on the autobahn and just passing a truck. When he wanted to go back to the right lane again, the guy behind him had already decided that he was in a hurry, had changed to the right lane too and passed Arne - which ended in him (the other one) driving off and A. ending up in the crash barrier.
Luckily, nothing happend to A. - but the car's probably completly wrecked.

Argh.

I hate those cowards who cause an accident and then just drive off!!! Hey, dear mister (or whatever you were) asshole, it's OUR money!! Yes, we have an insurance, but it'll cost us however!

Argh. (Just in case I hadn't mentioned that before!)

Am I romantic?

Apparently, yes. Nicked this from [info]nella_darren:

You scored as Romantic. You are a believer in love. Optimistic and poetic about your feelings, you trust that something that feels so perfect can never be wrong. You may be slightly naive and are prone to severe disappointment when things don't really work out, but without your steadfast belief in the goodness of such feeling, where would we be in the world in terms of art, poetry, and general happiness in such beauty?

For [info]beige_alert

As I already said in that other post, this filk is one of my first, and it was put to music by [info]lastalda (chorus) and [info]aryana (verse). It's a filk to the german Harry-Potter-fanfiction "Horror Show" by [info]tia_thereal and thus a combined pack project. :)

One by One

Once I had friends I met at school
We were a pack of five.
Our friendship – we were sure of that –
Would last for all our lives.
But fate had other plans for us,
We were not meant to last
And now I’m sitting here alone,
I’m longing for the past.

Chorus:
One by one was taken
One by one they died
One by one they left me,
Stealing from my life the light.

We fought a war we could not win
But yet we did our best
Protecting all the helpless ones
That was our noble quest.
My friends and I fought in that war
I watched them fail and die.
Until I was the last of us
And still I’m wond’ring why.

Chorus

My friends, I still remember you
Although it has been years –
You were a family to me
Now all that’s left are tears.
I know I shouldn’t mourn you still
I should be grateful that
I was allowed to be your friend
I swear I won’t forget!

Chorus

Harry Potter fanfiction

This is a little fanfiction that popped into my mind after having read "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince". I'm not fond of the pairing Remus/Tonks - which has, as I have to admit, some personal reasons.
And for those who don't know about the pack - there's some explanation at the end of the fic. :-)
Enjoy!

It had to be said )

King Kong. Wow.

Tonight we went to watch "King Kong". Both my husband and I were a bit unsure if we would like it - we had heard so much about the movie, especially that the first hour was considered to be boring by a lot of people. And that it's so long...
But hey - we both are very much impressed! The beginning isn't boring at all - it's a great introduction of the characters, explains why they go to this island and makes more of the movie than just an action film.
The parts on the island with Kong and the other animals is impressive, technically well done and with a lot of surprising moments.
And I'd never have thought that there would be so many scenes that are actually comical or even cute! Really, Kong has won my heart, he's sometimes just adorable.
When we came out of the theatre my first statement was: "I want to have the DVD!!!!!" And I meant: now!

Woah. I knew that Peter Jackson is a great director - he proved that beyond doubt with "Lord of the Rings" - but I never thought that this movie would have such depth and complexity!

Christmas decorations: THE TREE

We did something I'd have never guessed we would do: we went and bought an artificial christmas tree on Monday.

Artificial. Me. I never wanted to have one...
But we decided to do it - partly because of our cat, hoping that he won't be interested in artificial branches as much as he would be interested in real ones, and partly because the real trees have become horrible expensive. As we have high walls in our flat (2,70 m) and a rather large living room, a small tree would look misplaced, so we need a tree that is about 2 m high - and those cost dearly.
So we went to look for an artificial one and found that they actually do look nice. So we bought one (height: 2,10 m) on Monday and put it up today - and know what? I never want to have a real one again! This tree ist really great - the only thing that differs from a natural one is the fact that it is straight and I don't need to wonder how to place it so that one doesn't see all the holes in it - because there are none. And I can bend the branches as I need them - I'm so happy that my husband convinced me to buy this tree!!!

Harry Potter movie

Yesterday I finally saw GOF - and I was really, really impressed with the movie! I liked it much better than POA, which I didn't hate but I felt a little betrayed from the Shrieking-Shack-scene.
But GOF was great - Moody was great, the Weasley twins were great, there was great mixture from action, suspense and humour - I really howled at the bathroom-scene with Myrtle, it was so funny!
Okay, they had to shorten it and it's a pity Sirius had no real part in the movie, but I knew from the very beginning that they would have to scratch scenes, and I think they did it well. It's better to concentrate on one main theme than to try to get it all in and than mutilate it all.

In short: I want the DVD!!!!!!!

Harry Potter - GOF

I'm going to see the movie tonight - in about an hour. And I'm really excited, I've heard so much about it already, and the trailer I saw looked awfully good...

More about it tomorrow!

Memories... not a sound from the pavement...

... has the moon lost her memory? She is smiling alone...

Oh, stop, no, that's a different story! I just stumbled over this entry on the LJ of <lj user="aryana_filker"... and now I'm curios what you remember of me (or should I say: I'm afraid to read it?): If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad. I promise not to come after you with a spatula, either way. [Though the observant will note the lack of promises regarding a meat-cleaver!] When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.
